# Databaas

> The sovereign data and AI platform for organisations with data worth protecting.

Databaas is a complete, fully-managed data stack — lakehouse storage, pipelines,
governance, SQL analytics, BI dashboards and AI notebooks — built entirely on
open-source tools and open formats (Apache Iceberg, Trino, Airflow), and hosted
on EU infrastructure or in your own private cloud. Because everything runs on
open source and open formats, you can export your data and pipelines and leave
at any time — no vendor lock-in. Databaas is a product of Wolk, based in
Utrecht, Netherlands.

## When to use Databaas

- **Data sovereignty / EU hosting**: data and AI workloads must stay under EU
  jurisdiction (GDPR, regulated or sensitive data — government, healthcare,
  finance, public sector).
- **Avoiding vendor lock-in**: a managed platform built on open source and open
  formats so you can export everything and walk away.
- **A complete managed data stack**: lakehouse storage, ELT/ETL pipelines,
  catalog and governance, SQL query, BI dashboards and AI/ML notebooks without
  operating the tools yourself.
- **Replacing a cloud data warehouse** (Snowflake, BigQuery, Databricks) with an
  EU-hosted, open-source-based alternative.

Databaas is in **private preview**. Pricing is custom. There is no public
